powering Steering Leak 2008 volvo penta 5.0 gxi-j

I have a 2008Campion alante with a 5.0 gxi-j It looses power steering fluid slowly and I was not able to find were it was leaking So I finaly took it in and was told it was the steering cylinder (power steering actuator ) im guessing is what they meant I was quoted 1700 to remove and replace with a new one . Is this something someone can do themselves? I believe the part itself is around 400 .
