I recently installed a new Sierra Volvo Penta Fuel Pump 841161 XP 18-7286 in my Volvo Penta AQ 131A. During installation I noticed the check valve/backflow preventer before the pump wasn't working great ( probably unrelated). After installation everything worked fine. Several days later, shortly after starting ( I had to turn over the motor for 10 seconds or so as the check valve had let the fuel line run dry. I noticed that the pump was making a clicking noise. It sounds like there is a gap between the cam and the foot on the pump.
Is this sound normal or acceptable as it is louder than I would expect?
Also I used the previous rubber spacer/ gasket from the previous pump. Was that correct?
I did my best to ensure the cam was as low as possible prior to installing the pump.
Does anyone know where I can get another fuel line check valve?

Any suggestions?
Thanks, Jason..
