I have been getting water in the boat not a lot but when I would pull it out of the water it has more than it should. I checked the gimbal bellow and it had water in it. I have ordered a new gimbal bearing, bellow and a linement tool. The u joints had a little surface rust but feel like the are in good shape no play. I sprayed and wiped down with WD40 and they look fine. The problem is the bellow looks good I do not see any holes. Could this water be coming from water intake O ring by the plastic nut? The lower unit oil is good no water. Would this let water in the boat?

Thanks

Could be just because it's an old bellows. The nose of the drive seals against the bellows. If it's all mashed down or dirty from corrosion, it will leak. Those bellows should be changed every 5 or 6 years.

That's Great news. Should I use some type of bellow sealant.

Thanks

No, when they get like that you replace them. Only takes 20 to 30 minutes if you already have the drive off.
