Does anyone have info on taking apart the locking device so that I can replace the "bullet" that releases it. The bullet on that bar is broken off in the housing. A diagram or video would be the best...I'm no boat mechanic....LOL

Re: Tilt problem Volvo Penta 270

goinpostalca,
I have the same outdrive and have replaced that part. In my opinion there's no easy way but to remove the rod completely off. I hope the web address below will get you to the exact schematic of the intermediate housing.
1. Remove the nuts #56
2. Unhook shaft #51 and make sure springs # 59 do not fly out on you.
3. Unscrew shaft 49(both sides) so that the lock brace #48 is free to rotate. Be careful you don't lose the washer #52 and spring #58.
4. That should let you take the spring hook # 53 and reverse tilt inhibit # 43 off. It's going to require you to move lock brace out of the way. Then you can pull the push rod #46 off and replace the sleeve.
5. Don't torque the stop nut now just in case you have to adjust the sleeve later.

Goodluck
