I found out from reading about volvo outdrives that I should have a long hub outdrive with V8 engine. I have a 1986 Bayliner 1950 Bowrider. The previous owner replaced the 2.3 engine with a chevy 350. Anyone know if this set up is ok to keep like this? Not sure if he did anything to the lower unit(gear ratio). Looks like a different lower unit that the original since the paint color does not match the intermediate and upper case. I have also read that this typical has a left hand turning prop to offset the engine rotation. Again someone has replaced it with a RH prop which is probably the reason I find myself cranking the steering wheel to the right at higher speed no matter how much I have the fin adjusted. So i will try a LH prop and switch the shift linkage to LH.
