Hey Don.....

back flushed the water inlet hose last night because I sucked a bunch of sand, crushed shells and small pebbles up and fouled the HX and exhaust manifolds on Sunday.

When back flushing the water inlet, If I put my hand over the inlet grates and the hole in the nose of the outdrive leg, water would spray out of the area below the h-frame. I think around o-ring #64

is this normal, or am I looking at pulling the drive soon to repair?

Please advise.

Yes, it's not designed to hold pressure, and when turning, the pivot shaft (23 in your link) slides on the seal.
