HELP Chris Craft 1995 Concept 18 Volvo 4.3 Won't crank up

Hello,

I am new here I purchased a 1995 Chris Craft Concept 18 comes with a Volvo 4.3 We took it out on the lake yesterday, After about 8 minutes out on the water it made a loud whistle sound and the boat shut off in the middle of the lake. Now we can not get it cranked back up. This is our first boat it's getting plenty of power and the engine turns over it just won't crank what are some things we can check before we take it to the marina to be looked at? Any ideas would be helpful it kind of acts like it's not getting fuel and we filled it up before we took it on the lake.

Is it getting gas to the carb? (assuming it's a carb, you didn't say). Do you have spark?

What's the full model number (all the letters after 4.3) or the serial number of the engine?
