I have a 1990, 2400 Imperial and no manuals. The spark arester cover says AQ231B. I have purchased 2 manuals Cymler and (can't remember name). Both manuals have AQ231A specifications. The Volvo Website only has a manual for AQ231A. Does anyone know what the differences are between AQ231A vs AQ231B? I am looking for specs for timing, point gap, plug gap, max RPM, idle, ect.
Also, the outdrive is a 275A Duoprop. The lift/ tilt is electo/mechanical (no hydraulics). My manuals show information for 270, 280, and 290. What heading should I be looking at?

While it seems backwards, the 231A is actually NEWER than the B. Basically the only thing that changed in the 2 engine models is the outdrive. The A model had hydraulic trim and the 290 style transom shield. Your 275 drive has no trim, and only came as a single prop. By just changing the lower unit, the drive was upgraded to the DP by a previous owner.
If you download the owners manual from the Volvo site, it has all the tuneup specs for the 231.

Concerning manuals, use the information for a 231A for the engine and a 270 for the drive. But,,,,,, forget the Clymer and Seloc manuals, too much wrong information and they try to put eveything all in one book and mistakes get made.
See your local Volvo Penta dealer and get service manual #7724371 for your outdrive, and #7732736 for your engine.
