Tilt/Trim indication 2001 volvo 5.0

I've had this boat since 2004. The trim indicator started giving me issues around 2 years ago. It would sometime work and at times not. The trim motor always works, but the indicator remains pegged at full up no matter what position the trims is located. I've put power to the indicator (seperate) and its fine.

any suggestions?

Replace the gauge sender on the gimbal ring.
