I need spark plug wires... Volvo Penta 5.7GS 2001 Caravelle Interceptor

So my boats wont go past 28-30rpm. It's a 2001 Caravelle Interceptor 212. It has a 5.7GS Volvo Penta. Whenever I try to even push the throttle past 28-30rpm, it makes a "tkkk tkkkk" sound - like its backfiring. I'm running champion plugs, but I bought NGK's earlier today, boatfoam and a new fuel filter. I thought maybe I should replace my spark plug wires. Would this be a good idea?

I ordered a parts catalog, but it wont ship till 5/25. I have no idea on what type of spark plug wires to get. If anyone has a book, or could shed light - I'd appreciate it.

Get your motors full model number and type it in the box in this link http://www.volvopentastore.com/Engi...unc.volvo--session_id.784832662--store_id.366

Should lead you to your wires. Then get something other than the champion plugs and try it. Post your full model number and or serial number of your engine, and I can see what plugs you should have in that engine. Year of your boat means nothing.

And these are the spark plugs I bought today from autozone:
NGK 2238. (Owners manual stated: p/n 3854399) which cross referenced to these NGK's

Your engine comes with the AC-MR43LTS from the factory, the NGK number is BPR6EFS

Try the new plugs before buying plug wires.

NGK BPR6EFS is NGK 3623
