Seems i may not have a marine alternator in my boat, not sure how to identify this but two things are wrong with mine.

A) The corrosion outside of it is ug ly (I can fix this)

B) It's only putting out about 13 v, if that.......it's not charging like I would like, 13.5 to 14.2 v

This OK or should I replace it?

I would prefer to replace it as I think the bearing is going out in it anyway.

Anyone got one? Got an idea on the price?

I'll get with my volvo-penta dealer but I thought I would ask here first.

Thanks,

by the way, the voltage is NOT an indicator of a marine alternator. The voltage and charging curve etc are the same as for a car. the physical construction is different for spark supression.
