Volvo Penta 4.3 sx-a trim/tilt question

I just purchased a new to me boat. It has a 4.3 Volvo with a sx-a stern drive. I was prepping the boat for season and I noticed the trim doesn't seem to be working correctly. When I push trim up or down I can hear the motor run but the drive does not move up or down. It is currently on trailer and as far up as it goes. Am I missing something or is this my first real problem? Any advice is munh appreciated.

If the pump is running and it's not moving, yeah, that's a problem. Is the oil in the trim pump reservoir full? Is it clear red like ATF or milky like a strawberry milk shake?

I am not sure. I will check that out. I had to put back in storage for a few more weeks. I assume the milkshake look would be bad. Thanks.

You assume correctly. That indicates water in the system.

I have same problem on 2005 Regal with 4.3 L VP SX-A. Where is trim pump reservoir? Obvious I am novice..... d2debo
