No red shifter cable on my volvo penta 270 I/O?

Hi, i have a 69 fiber form 18ft continental I bought from a guy that did motor swap to a aq130c with 270 I/O. This guy did a very poor job of installing this on what ever he did do right so I am having to go throught everything. The problem I'm having now, i have no shifter cable on my 270 outdrive and have no clue how its hooks up on the out drive and where does it go through on the transom? Any help I could get would be great! I have used slot of these forums to get to where I'm at today on this boat, thanks.

The shift cable goes through a hose on the inside of the boat, that is attached to the transom shield. The cable then goes into a hole through the drive just under the upper gear box.
There is a stainless steel lock that bolts to the drive that holds the cable in place.
Then, under the back cover of the drive, the cable attaches to the linkage.
