Volvo Aq270 Intermediate bearing's

I Have a Aq125A volvo with a 270 outdrive just purchased second time on water all of a sudden it had alot of vibration in outdrive pulled in to shore and noticed it was taken on water so put on trailer any way to make a long story short noticed the drive bellow was not not connected any more to the bell housing and when I took off the upper gear housing the u-joint's were rusted bad but they still moved freely but the problem is the bearing was destroyed , the bell housing looks great but it looks like there could be two set's of bearing , so my question is , is there 2 set's of bearing on this outdrive and can i reeplace both with out pulling engine , apprently this bellow has had a leak for sometime so is there anything else I should weary about are just the bearing and u-joint's ? Doesn't matter if you have one or two bearings (You have one) you have to pull the engine to replace that bearing and sseals, along with checking the flex plate. With that bearing destroyed, the flex plate and pilot bearing are very suspect.

What would cause that bearing to destroy itself ? just water ? ...

Water = rust on highly machined surfaces = self destruct.

It had to make a lot of growling before it died, lack of maintenance (old bellows) allowed water to get to the seal, then the ujoint yoke rusted and took out the seal, then water got into the bearing and it slowly destroyed itself. Takes a couple of years in salt water, even longer in fresh water.

Don these special tools mentioned in the drawing you provided were would I find them to purchase them ?

You don't need any special tools.

Hey Don, which manual is that page from? I'd like to get my hands on the entire manual. That's not in my AQ125 Engine or 270 Outdrive Service Manuals. Neither of those cover the flywheel cover and transom shield very well at all.
