we have had the carb rebuilt, new plugs, cap and rotor.to keep it from stalling we have to turn up the idle 1000 rpms.we also hesitate on accel. Is there a idle fuel adjustment screw on this carb? It's a holley 2 barrel.

Was it acting like this before all that work was done, or is that why all that work was done?

There are idle airbleed screws on each side of the carb. To begin adjustments they should be screwed in LIGHTLY until bottomed out, then back out 1.5 to 2 full turns. You should also return the idle adjustment screw or whatever you adjusted to get the 1000rpm idle speed back to where it was. Then start the engine, and move the idle air bleed screws in a half turn at a time until the speed goes down, then back out a full turn, that will be close. If moving those adjustment screws makes no difference then you have a vacuum leak somewhere in the carb, maybe the base plate, maybe just due to improper reassembly.

There is a small cork gasket that the idle airbleed screws turn in, many times those are skipped for r&r and pieces of them can end up in the passages, then when the screw is bottomed out the cork piece gets jammed in real good and the engine can only idle if the main butterflies are open quite a bit, and the idle would be quite high.

it was acting the same way before. We had not taken the boat out for a long time . After the boat sat we couldn't get it started thats the reason we cleaned out the tank and had the carb rebuilt. The screw are the covered by a plug that I have to remove?
Thanks for the info

They may be covered by a plug. They are on each side of the metering plate in the lower half. I may be in error thinking they are still an adjustable item. Smog regs may have caught up with marine carbs by 2005!

The pics in the Holley catalog for replacement model 2300 carbs show them open, but that is not by any means a definitive method.
