I've noticed that my new Volvo 4.3GL (carb) with the SX drive seems to be a bit noisier then I expected when shifting into gear. It makes a bit of a thud when shifting into forward. It's not big enough to rattle the boat but you can hear it and almost feel it. It doesn't seem to make as much of a noise when shifting into reverse.<br /><br />In neutral, it idles at about 700rpm and in Forward gear it idles at about 550rpm I think. <br /><br />Does that sound normal to you? I expected the Volvo to be a bit smoother then that.
