HELP! Blowing 20A Fuse in engine compartment fuse box. VP 5.0 Gxi V8

My father in law's rinker 230 cc keeps blowing what i/we think is the A-EMC fuse or the fuel pump fuse. We first notised the problem when the engine wouldn't start. It was cranking fine. We started looking and found that 20A Fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. Now we have tried alot of things and a few 20 Amp fuses later we are starting to get a bit upset...

both of us are pretty rookies on this area:facepalm:.

Are there any rocket scientists in here who can help us!

Without a Volvo serial number or a FULL model number (all the letters after the GXi) to even guess what fuse you are referring to.

It's not it, and without it, it's going to be hard to look at the proper wiring diagram.
Try a digital camera where you can't stick your head.

It was quite a challenge to access it Got fiberglas all over me now. so i hope you can figure something out of it=)

Ok, some initial things to check. Disconnect both fuel pumps (Push the wire clip in on the connector). Then put a new fuse in and turn the ignition switch on and see if the fuse blows. Turn key off.
Hook up one of the pumps. Key on.... Fuse blow or not?
If not hook up other pump, Key on ..... Fuse blow or not?

That will check both pumps and the relay.

If you have the wiring diagram. is there any possibility that you would share it with me? i am an electrician myself. but i haven't much understanding on such type of electrics. would be nice to try and learn something of it=)

we have done that already=) the fuse went out with both connectors off. i tried to disconnect the ECM connector. the one with all the wires to ignition and so on went. put in a new fuse. and it didn't blow.

connected the connector to the EMC/EMC (emission control unit?) module and the fuse went out again. not so weird maybe since every component on the boat is connected to that somehow...

I noticed you mentioned the ignition switch. the ignition switch is off. we only use the main circuit breaker and the fuse blows. don't know if that could be any help...

Might try swapping relays R4 and R5 (see wiring diag.) and see if the fuse blowing follows.
