Mercruiser Oil Filter on Volvo Penta 4.3GL engine?

My local marina shop (which only carries Mercruiser parts) sold me a Mercruiser oil filter for my 2004 Volvo Penta 4.3GL engine. It took him about 20 minutes of tracing in his book and he finally said, "I think this will work."

I'm hoping someone can help me verify this is going to work as I pull the boat out of storage this weekend.

Ayuh,... If it's the block mounted oil filter,...
It's just a Chevy 4.3l, 'n their filters are all the same...

If it's a remote filter, you'll need to check the thread pitch, 'n size...
