Hey Gents,

I have a 1993 volvo 501b which has a (I think) Pertronix distributor with the weights and springs to manage the mechanical advance. It has the star wheel / hall sensor electronic ignition.

The springs and weights are pretty crufty for the mechanical advance.

I'm thinking I can:

1. Swap the entire distributor
2. Try to find replacement springs

Which would you guys do? Is there a distributor that doesn't use mechanical advance?
Would i search for another pertronix, or should I look at another vendor?

Thanks for your thoughts!
Jim

If it's the original distributor, it the Prestolite BID distributor. New springs are almost impossible to find. About the only thing you can do is hopefully find a speed shop that has a distributor machine to setup the distributor with the proper springs to get the right advance.
Most people go to the Delco EST distributor as a replacement. it's all electronic. Advance and all.
