volvo penta aq211 w/ 290 sp outdrive

i have a 1988 steigercraft with a aq211 with a 290 outdrive, the engine is a gm 305ci, how do i know what the outdrive gear ratio is, i have been serching for a replacement but i need this info, also is there a better way to go when its time for replacing, the engine and outdrive work perfectly but are getting up there in age, may consider new repower next winter

If you have a single prop outdrive, the gear ratio should be 1.61:1
if you have the DP, it's a 1.95:1

I suppose you could look for used parts, but I would put my money into maintaining what I have. If you take good care of your current drivetrain, it should last for a long time. The 290 was a great outdrive. Parts are available...

I have a dp-c outdrive and mine was stamped were the annode ring would sit on. Mine is 2.30.1, the 290 and the dp-c look alike

sorry for the delay on my repost but im in connecticut and this weather is killing me, Thanks for the responses i may be overthinking as usual, like i said boat was always maintained and everything works perfectly, i was just thinking ahead if something were to go wrong and the way it sounds a repower with existing 290 outdrive is ok. im thinking of going with a fuel injected engine next time and even if the hp is increased i dont drive the boat hard, usually around 2900 rpm, thanks again and im going to stop worrying about it
