Re: Volvo Penta 4.3 GL spark plug wires - copper or carbon
Thanks.
Some where I read a tread which implied that some ignition systems needed copper wires to work properly.
PS engine runs fine with Carbon so far.
Electricity doesn't really care what the conductor is made of, as long as the resistance of it is low enough to allow the design current to flow. In this case, it's ~ 10,000 volts (the exact voltage depends on the rotor gap + spark plug gap) @ ~2 milliamps.
Carbon wire exibits ~1000Ω per inch of length, which is fine.
