Re: Volvo part help unusal situation

Is he charging you for shipping that you know of?

Some places, But not all will either charge you for shipping or others will just mark up the price to help absorb the cost of just doing business, Like taking the time to look up and order the parts, Fill out the invoice, ect, You would be surprised at how long it could take to look up and order some parts. Just saying;)

Also the extra time to install the part could be to help absorb the cost of everything that is involved with getting the boat inside the door to getting it out the door, Like the service writers time, Time to uncover and recover the boat, In a lot of cases to move all the ski ropes and life vests just to get to the area to work on, Or even to just fill up the oil reservoir at times, Then there's the time to trim the pump motor up and down a few times and check everything over, Then there's the time to clean the boat that he may have gotten dirty while working inside/Outside of the boat.

Along with praying that the batteries are not dead.:D

One other note, You didn't say, but if your mechanic is NOT a VP dealer, then he probably had to pay list for the part and marked it up so he made some money off of it.
