I have the following engine with the duo prop out drive:

Volvo Penta Engine - 2000 model year -5.7 gsi pefs

Does anyone have "how to" instructions on the process to remove and install new bellows? I saw some pretty good step-by-step instructions for other things and was hoping there was something for the above--

Thanks a ton.

You have an EF model, so the manuals you need are HERE

The bellows are very simple to change on that model.
Remove drive.
Remove clamp from from ujoint bellows.
Remove snap ring from exhaust bellows disconnect bellows.
Remove big plastic nut from water hose fitting
Tip bellhousing up and pull old bellows out and put new in.
Put it back together.

Any way to do the exhaust only without that pesky "remove drive" step?

You need to start your own thread with a question, not hijack someone elses thread.

WTF? I ask a varient of the EXACT same question, and for clarity on your ill defined "answer" of "remove drive".

Why do you have to be an ******* - nice way to welcome someone to the "community".

Its not nice to upset the volvo gods. There aren't many left. Newbees need to show a little more respect. And if you don't like it, good luck finding free answers anywhere else.

Thanks--

1. How much does the drive way?

2. Is it a one person job?

3. How long does it take? for an experienced mechanic? first time doing this job?

4. I did not see a section in the manual for changing belows? Is there specific instructions for this?

5. Any other jobs that should be done when your changing bellows?

Thanks again--

The drive is heavy, I take mine off and on alone but always regret it afterwards.

the trick to removing the drive is to use wood blocks under the skeg. that way you only have to keep it from falling left or right and you dont have to lift it up or down while positioning it.
the other trick is NOT to place your hand at the fwd edge.
when the drive clears the gimbal housing the shaft falls rather quickly.
as there are NO hospital records, video or still photos I can say I have never had the shaft mash my fingers.
not knowing if you have the swedish or the SX style drive thats about all I can say at this point.
post the drive seriel number and DonS can tell us what you have.
I could but he is quicker at it.

no one offended you, the above post gave NO information as to WHAT drive was behind this EF engine.
so therefore it was only going to create MORE confusion then everyone goes away mad and stupid.

Build a drive stand there is a sticky on this and there are several different designs...all pretty easy to make...save your back...
The bellows is a very important part of the sterndrive system, keeping water out of the boat and off your ujoints...gimble...driveshaft...you might want to have a pro do it if you're new at this...now R+Ring the drive (if you have a stand) is not hard and then you can check the bellows to make sure there is no water in it...this should be done at the end of each season anyway...
