Can you mate a Mercruiser 898 engine to a Volvo Penta 285 lower unit?

Hello,
I have a 1978 marquis with a Mercruiser 898 and an Alpha 1 lower unit. I cracked my engine block and have a replacement engine, but I noticed that where the engine mounts to the boat has broken fiberglass and it just setting there. Someone is selling a 1991 19ft Baretta ski boat w/ a Volvo penta lower unit and it has no engine and the owner said a small block 305 or 350 would mount in. I was wondering if my engine would attach to that lowwer unit or if I would have to get a different union? Thanks,

you would need the exaust manifolds, bell housing, water pump, and motor mounts.

Did a V-8 come out of the Volvo? If not you will need to change the gear ratio.
