Possible to switch to smaller carb on Volvo 570A?

I was wondering if anyone had some insight on ways to reduce fuel consumption on my volvo penta 570A/w duoprop. As far as I can tell, Im burning 8-10 gallons an hour @ 3000-3200 rpm.

I think there is like a holley 650 cfm carb on there? Stiffer springs on the secondaries? A new intake manifold and a 2bbl carb? A smaller (500 cfm) 4bbl carb? Im not a carb guy and would appreciate any ideas....

I just wanted to bump this. I too have this engine and a 4bbl, and wondering if anyone else has any related experience or ideas. Thanks
