290 volvo shift cable replacement

im just wondering what is involved in this process and if i dont do it myself what i would expect to pay someone my engine compartment has plenty of room and the shift cable is clearly visible thanks!

I replaced mine in the spring. not tough at all. You'll need to access the inside of your control box. Some are harder than others. You also need to know the length of the cable you need. I found some numbers on the outside of my old cable and was able to determine what the length was.
