Volvo AQ 131 275 Stern Drive

Everytime putting it in forward or in reverse it makes a popping noise and when putting it in reverse the stern drive was bobbing up and down and then when put in forward it popped down
What could be causing this problem, any help would be great!

You're retaining pawl that locks the drive down when in reverse is not working. You're going to want to fix that ASAP. Its not good for your drive to run it that way.

Your going to have to try to figure out why its not working correctly. BTW, if the outdrive is tilted up, even a little, the retaining pawl will not hold the drive down whether it is working or not. It must be down fully.

From what you wrote, it's unclear to me if the "Popping" noises are related to the retaining pawl or not. Can you be more specific?

it happens every time i put it in fwd and reverse. The stern has done this only like once before that is all and then that was the second time it happen like that.

Where is the Retaining Pawl located at because i dont know what that is.

i could not find anything that had the 275 stern drive in it

Sorry, there isn't a manual for the 275. In post #20 of that thread is a link to the 280 manual. Thats the manual to use.
