We recently purchased a 81 boat with a Volvo 350. The engine appears to run reasonablely for its age. My question is would it be forth $350.00 to have the carb profresionally rebuilt and would the economy and preformance be increased greatly??

You can buy completely remaufactured Qjets for 250 on ebay. If you can't get it rebuilt for half of that, you may consider buying new/reman carb. Get ready, you may get flooded with carb advise.:p

I'll sit back and watch. I've got that same card.

If there is nothing wrong with it, why rebuild it? And if you aren't having problems with it, you won't notice any improvements in the engine at all.
I would suggest a full tuneup and a compression test and see how it runs before spending that kind of money on a carb that may not be bad.

Nope,.....

Not when an Edlebrock Performer can be bought for Less than that, Brand New...
And that's the Marine version...

Welcome aboard !

What you should be taking away from this post is a full tune up.

And while your at it, a boat of this vintage may need all the filters cleaned.

Compression check. I hope you checked the compression before you bought the boat.
