Anyone know the correct voltage for choke terminals. Getting 7.0v. Correct? Expected 12v there so I wanted to see what you guys thought.

you have a bad connection somewhere if you are only getting 7 volts.

Are you measuring from the Positive terminal to battery ground? Or across the terminals?

Purple wire is ignition
Black wire is ground

On a vp, the grounds terminate on the block, back of block, on one of the flywheel housing bolts, near where the ground cable from battery is.

Purple wire runs thru a few connections from the helm to the + side of coil. This is also where the choke is connected

If your ignition was changed and you now have a balast resistor or a resistor wire, someone could have put the balast in the circuit incorrectly

Thanks, it would have taken me a while to figure that one out. Ground for choke is to the carburetor base nut-maybe someone changed. Did find a somewhat representative schematic indicating "AC" terminal on the alternator as point of termination. Will do some probing....next spring; winterized yesterday. Already counting the months.

ground to carb base is common... if you see any corrosion, clean it.
