assembling 270 outdrive

Hi, I had a 270 outdrive a long time ago, and even when tossing the boat it came with because the project was scrapped, I kept the outdrive. I am rebuilding it now as part of "hands on" practice to kill time. Instead of wasting time playing video games or watching TV. My question is. when I clean the internal parts like bearings and gears. I usually use a solution like isopropyl alcohol ... After the cleaning, I blow it off with compressed air. Question is, if I am to assemble it in the next few hours after that. Can I place the parts in bowl with regular motor oil in it? to keep them lubricated and so dust and particles don't get on them?

Thank you for any replies. I should be getting my o-ring rebuild kits today so the reassembly shall commence shortly.

Since the drive uses motor oil that would be fine.
