Trim pump fluid / leaking cylinder

I had my trim cylinders rebuilt by a reputable hydraulic company recently for my 08 Larson SX-A out drive. I even supplied the kit I purchased to which they said would not work. After going around with them on several issues I finally got them back. One still leaked! So I got tired of that and bought a set of new ones that I'm going to install some time this weekend. Question is can I use regular power stearing fluid from the local auto store? The fluid originally was clear. I'm sure the manual says use Volvo Penta fluid and I've read that you can use ATF fluid as well. I just wanted to see what some of your opinions are. Also can you buy that cap for the pump housing? The one on there looks kind of bad. I'm used to Mercuiser that's all I've had, this is my first Volvo out drive. It's funny how there are very little videos on the newer Volvo equipment repair on You Tube. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

[FONT=&quot]If it's clear it's most likely power steering fluid
Dextron automatic transmission fluid in a pinch
