Stock 350 "RV" cam question

I have a Stock 350 motor in my 26' boat.
The motor has an edelbrock 650 carb, Edelbrock performer intake manifold.

I am no engine guy by any means and am more confused now than ever after reading hours of post from forums and websites.

I have 2 questions:

Can I put and "RV" cam in a stock gm 350 without changing anything else?

What cam do you recommend? I am looking for more torque.

Having a 650 makes me think the prior owner thought a 650 cfm carb and intake would give more HP. The edelbrock site does not list a 650, but does have a 600 and 750 marine carb. The stock 350 can use no more then 413 to 530 cfm, and this is why most use a 600 carb.

So back to your question, if you have a marine motor currently, it already has a truck/RV cam in it. To pull some more ponies there are some things you can do but requires rebuilding. Bore, zero deck or plus up pistons without decking, heads, change crank to make it a 383. Other things can happen, just how far you want to go?

Thank you for your reply, I am not sure what cam is in the motor now. I have the guy rebuilding it looking in to it now. The person I bought the boat from says this was a new motor from gm with a stock cam in it.

Long story short, If it does not currently have an rv cam in it I would like to put one in. Am I able to do this without having to change heads, springs etc etc..

As I said I know nothing and reading further has only confused me more, What are the specs of the cam you recommend I should put in, In other words what should I tell my mechanic?

Need the serial number of at least the year of the motor?

The motor I believe is a mid 80's

The motor is still in the shop, I will hopefully have the serial number tomorrow.

Ayuh,.... If it's got roller lifters, you can reuse 'em on a new cam,...

If it's got flat tappet lifters, you'll need a new set of lifters for a new cam,...

Bein' mid-8os, it could be either,...

To find a R/V, Marine cam grind, look for power ranges that run idle, to 'bout 5000 rpms,...

Once ya get to the 1500rpm to 5500 rpms or higher cams, you've gone into the Hot Rod grinds,....

Look up a comp cams XM268H for flat tappet or XM270HR for a roller.

I ran the XM268H in my VP AQ271C. Stock carb was a 715cfm holley. Did have to rejet with the new cam.
