Anyone have a part # for the gear oil fill adapter for a 2011 Duo prop? I think last spring when I checked it, my mercruiser one was the wrong threads. Thanks Dave-R

Ayuh,.... I've Never found an outdrive that doesn't fill with 3/8-16 threads,...

Only thing different I've found are tiny outboards,....

The Volvo DP-SM, which is the drive that was before Dave's uses a different thread. They use a special adapter.

I just checked the out drive again and it is a DPS-A . I am almost sure my adapter worked on the SX drives and the Mercruiser drives I've had. I will make another attempt to thread it on tomorrow. Thanks all Dave-R

While it may or may not (I don't know) fit the VP DP or Bravos but it looks like Sierra came out with something new to try and make changing gear oil easier for some boaters plus the kits are available here on iboats if interested at all. http://www.seastarsolutions.com/prod...filldrain-kit/

This is where I found the 2 part numbers already listed below taken from the link above ,http://www.seastarsolutions.com/wp-c...-drain_kit.pdf

Description part no:
OUTBOARD (Johnson/Evinrude & Mercury Gear case) Sierra # 18-2446... http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Acc...1654&q=18-2446

STERN DRIVE (Stern Drive Gear case) Sierra 18-2447... http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Acc...1654&q=18-2447

I like this idea but this is putting stainless and aluminum together. Don't see any issue with the top, but the bottom may stick out and if it does then be would have turbulence. If it doesn't stick out then the hole would be even smaller, so draining time will increase and wonder if metal particles (if any) will be hidden. Don't know if it has a magnet

The plugs on Volvos are already stainless. I think on my Merc outboard, they are also stainless.

Yes the features mentioned having a Magnet too :encouragement:.
Magnet secures metal particles that could potentially harm the lower unit
It's hard to envision this kit working out for everybody but for some, it just might.:thumb:

Oh yeah thats right, the VP DP one is kind of a long bolt like seen below. 3851329

Bruce 58 ; you are absolutely right. My previous boat was a 2001 Cobalt with the Duoprop drive. I remember it had the different threads, and I had a mess before I was done filling it. My current boat is a 2011 Duoprop. I just assumed the threads would be the same. My old filler adapter should be good to go. Thanks to all who helped set me straight. Dave-R
