Reversed raw water pump hoses

I stupidly reversed the raw water pump hoses on a 5.0GI. I ran the engine on ears for about 5 minutes and heard a high pitched squeal. I shut it down and noticed my mistake. Should I replace the impeller again or can I inspect it and if it looks good use it? It was new.

and you didnt notice water not flowing in the first 10 seconds?

It was new.

Was is the operative word, it is now toast

most likely the melted rubber from your impeller
