I embarked on tuning up my boat; switched out the plugs, distributor cap, rotor, ignition module, and coil, and now it won't start. I replaced all of the original parts, still no start. I found in the process I had gotten the plug wires out of order; swapped the 4&3. So it was in order 18346572, instead of 18436572. I fixed this.

I purchased the tuneup parts at a local auto shop. Everything looked the same.

Bottom line is I have it put back together with original parts and still cannot get it to start.

I have a multimeter, and am trying to test various components but a total amateur.

Any ideas? Could I have fried both ignition modules, coils.

Thanks,

Just cranking, but I figured it out! As embarrassing as it is, I had somehow managed to advance each plug one spot on the new distributor cap. I only figured it because I noticed the previous owner had the wires mislabeled, which prompted me to go back and look at a pic from the day I bought the boat (month ago). Photos really help!

I put all the new parts on and it idles and runs perfectly. Sea test tomorrow!

Guys, took the boat out yesterday and she runs great! WOT 4800 rpm. I encountered a couple items I'll address under separate heading. Thanks again
