Well, took the boat out, and found that it is stuck in drive. I can go forward just great, but can't get it into neutral or reverse. I took the shifter cover off and played around behind it and am able to move the shifter back and forth now, but it only speeds up and slows down the forward drive. I see the interrupter switch and the rods seem to be working (I think), but can't get it to move out of drive. What the heck is Goin on here?

which drive, SP or DP?

most likely your cable came off the shift mechanism at the drive. pull the shift cover off the back of the drive and look.

It's an SP. I thought the same thing as only one of the throttle groves contains a cable. I traced the reverse cable and I see that it goes to outdrive. The urls below show some pics of the forward throttle cable and then the reverse cable going to the outdrive. My finger points to the reverse cable and where it goes. I'm a bit new at troubleshooting drive issues here..

Like Scott said, on your outdrive, pull the shift cover off and take a look at the cable connecting to the shift mechanism. Might have come of when you were in forward...

Thanks guys. The cable is still connected. I noticed that it was revving high, so I adjusted the shifter next to the steering wheel so it was more accurate to the speed of the prop. I cannot get the shifter to move back into neutral, let alone reverse...I'd make a suggestion to what I think it might be, but I'd rather defer to your guys' knowledge on next steps.

Also, you can see a photo with the drive cover off in the below link

Take the cable off at the outdrive and verify that you can shift manually there. Take the prop off and run the engine and shift with your hand.

Found the problem -- clutch oaks are severely rusted. Looks like I need a reseal. Thanks all
