Check XDP outdrives How?

Might be looking to purchasing a 06 Monterey 298SC with twin 5.7 XDP outdrives at a decent price I know these outdrives isn't the best. What do I need to look for on outdrives/Hull/motor etc on them to make sure there in running order the kicker is I cant water test it only on muffs. Thanks for any feed back

Best thing i can say is to Google those drives and come to a decision. They were made for only two years because of all the issues.

I hear mostly bad story but there is some good ones with no issues. I know they were in production from 2004-2008. What's the main concern with them? I knew the bellows were redesigned to fix the main issue of the them leaking.

It's made of plastic.. You wouldn't want a plastic transmission in your car would you?

Find a different boat....don't but outdrives that the company no longer supports...

And it's not a good idea to buy a boat of that class without a water test, regardless of what outdrives are installed. The boat is probably a deal for a reason.
