The motor is based on the West Bend 35.1958. Model number 571.XXXXX.Only available in 58.
sears motors changed to McCulloch in1959.
35.9 cu in. J4J champion plugs set at .030.Points set at .020
Tillotson OM carb.1/3 pt of TCW3 rated oil.
West Bend became Chrysler in 1966.
Power head was still 349.56 cu in. at least through to 1970.
An interesting project but parts may be a challenge. you may find some help at www.aomci.org

This motor is hanging on the back of a boat I am looking at - Owner says that he has "another motor" which is a 45 hp.

I dont really think that I have the fortitude to take on the elgin(s)? but need to figure out where they "need to be" cause I just cant bring myself to just recycle the metal.

That would be one cool rig if restored. I'd almost get tempted, but I'd probably die from old age before finishing it.

I know I was tempted.
C,mon Frank, I'd prob drive down and help you do some of the work.
Got a daughter in Gainsville.
He'd probably take $100 for everything.
