Help identifing model number

I just purchased a 7.5 hp Gamefisher outboard and the model number plate is disfigured. i can read 217-58 the rest of the numbers are unreadable. the Serial number is 68009756.

I tried to get help from Sears, because I need a new carb. and they will do nothing without the model number.

Is there any way to find the model number from the serial number? I am trying to get a replacement carburetor and am not having any luck without the model number. As I have said, the DATA PLATE says 217-58????

Thank you for your assistance. I found the information that I needed. the motor is a 1985. and I was able to get a carburetor rebuild kit.
