Montgomery Ward Sea King 10 HP Pull Starter Problems

We have a Montgomery Ward Sea King 10 HP Outboard Motor, Model Number- VWB52010, serial number- 47x22309. The pull starter does not have any recoil. We have taken it apart and can't find anything wrong with it. We can not get any tension on the spring. Of course we have never done it before and may be going about it the wrong way. We would like to find a schematic and make sure all the parts are there. How can I find the equivalent Chrysler Motor Model?

Your motor is a 1974. There are a whole slew of 1974 Chrysler 10hp models listed for that year. I don't have the correct parts book for yours, but here is a typical Chrysler starter. They don't differ much.

Looks just like the Force/Gamefisher 80's model starter
