My son hit a sand bar and must of thought this thing was an antique mud motor, ended up stripping out the gear that turns the prop. The shear pin was bent but didn't break in time to save the gear. The gear does have some corrosion which could explain why it failed.

Anyway, looking to see if I can find a replacement. The unit is a Commando 500. The gear is 2" dia. with 32 cogs. It has 26 S Perfection American Darlington SC- USA stamped on the gear if that helps.

Any thoughts on a replacement and where to find one?

I was able to get my hands on an owners manual for the Commando Motors Series 500 and 750. If anyone is looking for info let me know. Doesn't seem to be much info around on these motors, may be the only manual left...

Maybe take your damaged gear to a small local machine shop....might cut you a new gear for a few bucks$.....
