Well I just bought this motor, guy said it was either 1945 or 1946 Sea King 3 hp engine. He said it ran about 3 or 4 years ago but takes about 40 pulls now to get it going .. never tried. What should i do first to try to get it going? What is the oil/gas mix? should I rip it all aprt to clean the carb? Is there a downloadable owners manual or parts diagram anywhere?

thanks in advance... if I get it running Ill put up vids of it running... need to get it running before the end of the months fishing trip....:D

Hi all this is my first day here. I too have a wards sea king 54gg9011 made by gale (254a). I was wondering if I could get that parts list also or if I could get some advice on where to find a service manual. Thanks

Yeah it was over the plate but not knowing the motor did not have a neutral (damn it) it just flung all the water out..so i shut it off...

Be sure it actually pumps water. The "impeller" has been known to swell with age. If your planing a fishing trip a new "impeller"
would be a smart move. The "impeller is sometimes referred to as a wobbler.
For testing get it set up so the water is up to the mounting bracket like it is on a boat,a good deep barrel.
Water will stay in better if you rig some sort of cover.
