I have recently aquired a 1958 35hp Elgin Skipper made by West Bend. Does anyone know what voltage this requires?
Also looking for a cowl for it.

Reasonably certain it is 12V. If wrong, I'm sure I'll quickly be corrected.

If manual start It will have a magneto ignition. If electric start its battery ignition.Probably 12 volts but crank it with a 6 volt battery
see how it does.
Or carefully jump 12 volts directly to the starter. It will spin like crazy.
If electric start there will be an alternator under the flywheel. Each cylinder will have its own separate battery ignition with its own points, condensers and coil.
