Greetings,
I recently aquired a 6 hp, 2 cyl, 4 stroke Lauson from the 1950's It seems to have few hours and about 70-75 lbs of compression. The original coil was melted, so I located a replacement. I would like to throw in a new set of plugs and get it running this winter. When I removed one plug, it was a Champion J-8. The other was a Champion J-6J. None of the champion books at the auto parts stores show a listing for Lauson outboards. An internet search has not turned up anything useful either. I did find out that old maytag motors have a very similar eismann coil/armature and take an autolite 216. Is anyone aware of what plug his motor takes, or where to find a more comprehensive lising of spark plug applications than the books at the auto parts store? Thanks much
