All,
I have been a menber here for a while and I have enjoyed all of the info that you guys provide. I usually can find what I need by searching, so I have not needed to ask a lot of questions. However, I just purchased a decent running Gale Model # 25DE21BL and SN 881118. It will be a great running motor once I clean the carbs and correct the ignition issues, which are both very small issues. I found where 25DE21B is a 25HP Buccaneer from 1963, but could not find a number that has an L following it. I hope L doesn't stand for "Lemon"! Is it just one that was imported from Canada in 63 to cover the shortfall in the US? If so, can I assume the part numbers and manuals will work? Thanks for any help you can give!

Howdy, SD.

The "L" after the model number is just a manufacturing run number. It means nothing to us, except that it might affect a part number or two. Your Manual will work just fine.

That is a great engine. Be sure to use 24:1 mix and Champion plugs, either J4C or J6C, gapped at .030".
