Hello everyone, I have a Sears 5hp 217-58991. I was wondering what year the motor is. Also what is the oil mix ratio. Is there anything else I need to know about this little motor. Thanks for the Help. Great Board!!!!

Re: sears outboard 5hp help

Hi,

That's a 1971 5 hp model, made by Eska. It's air-cooled, with a water-cooled exhaust. Fuel:Oil ratio is 24:1, using the type of oil used in chainsaws and other air-cooled two-stroke engines.

You can look up parts diagrams at www3.sears.com. Plug in your model number, using a period instead of the dash. Sears has some common parts for that motor.

For other parts, contact certifiedpartscorp.com. They bought the entire stock of parts from Eska and continue to buy parts from other sources. You'll have to call them, but they're very helpful.
