Hi;
I just aquired a sears 4hp that I have very little info on. mdl#57459660, ser#6760041212804. Could anyone please tell me what year it is and if parts are availible? Also I need to know fuel/oil ratio and the lower unit (direct gear drive) is dry. I have to make a gasket. does it take grease or gear oil. Also is there a water pump or is the whole motor air cooled?
Thank You, Rogueriver

Re: Sears 4 HP

574.59660 is a ted williams 1967 Air Coolled 4hp 1cyl. Built by McCulloch who went out of bussiness 40 years ago....Nice thing is that is basically a lawn mower engine so finding some parts might be easier than you think. I just purchased a 1968 sears/ted williams 4 hp air cooled on ebay for $96.00 so at least you don't have an expensive motor. Ebay would be a good place to find parts also..Good luck Tony
