A friend here at work has a 1950 Spiegel Brooklure 500, 5hp, model 230-50-5, serial 320133. He needs to find parts and possibly manual. Specifically he needs water pump. Does anyone have info that will help him locate these parts? Also will parts from other motors such as Sea King or E/J fit this motor?

Keep a tight line!

I think you have a motor with few partners
It appears to share parts with the Gale 5
Model numbers I think are misprinted in my book.
2S7 or 2B7
It may share parts with other Gale devision
built motors also ,just a guess but I think it may share ignition parts with the Johnson TD20
5hp.You may be able to get more info at
www.aomci.org

All,
Thanks for the help. He found the parts at Seaway Marine in Seattle, WA. 1-800-332-0803.
May be a good reference for others who may find themselves in need of parts for these motors.

Re: 1950 SPIEGEL 5HP

I have a vintage Spiegel boat motor, Model# 230-50-5, Serial#319553. I want to restore this motor to it's original glory. What I need to know is, does anyone have a catalog with a picture of this particular motor or know where I can possibly get a hold of a picture of this motor so I know exactly what decals were on it so they can be replaced. Thanks, Bob in Milwaukee, WI.

Welcome to iboats, Bob. I realize you are new, but this thread is 11 years old. You should start a new one. Even so, I don't have a picture of your Gale-built 1950 Speigel Brooklure motor but if anybody does, they probably will be at the Antique Outboard Club's website, Antique Outboard Motor Club Website - AOMCI.org

Now, let's re-close this thread.
