Help with old McCulloch 3.6 hp

My father in law just gave me an old McCulloch 3.6 hp outboard. He purchased it around 1962 second hand I can't find a model number on it but the gas tank has been painted so maybe it was somewhere on the tank. The Ser # is 61300310-C 1007 and it says McCulloch of Canada on it if that helps. He says it runs great but I don't know anything about outboards and need help. Would it be worth my time and money to try to find someone to restore it or would I be better off getting something more reliable. I would like to use it in Salt water but I don't think that would be advisable. Any help would be greatly appreciated, also if I decided to sell it what would I expect to get for it?

Using that motor in salt water is not advisable. They are good little motors parts are available looks like a 1961 model.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think it could be used for salt water. I live in New Brunswick Canada and I have called a few repair shops around here and nobody would even look at it.

Nope that is a do it yourself motor.
