I've got a 1968ish Wards Sea King 20hp outboard. Had the shaft extended, now would like to reduce, BUT did not keep any old parts. ARE there parts to reduce, or just remove the 5-6" extension?

If its like a johnson/evin the water tube had a rubber piece that connected the water tube extension to change to or from long to short shaft.

Two issues here. First, whenever you make a change to anything, you always keep the old parts just in case. Second, why not buy another engine and then when you need a longer shaft size again, you will have an engine already to go. Nothing wrong with owning two OBs. JMHO!
